Family Spiritual Formation

Thoughts and Ideas from Mrs. Amy

Dear FSF Families,

This year, our FSF program will look a bit different from past years. While we would love to have on-site classes, due to our current situation with the coronavirus as well as our concern for the safety and wellbeing of our families and staff, we as a staff have decided that in-person learning will not be feasible for the anticipated future. The start date for our 2020-2021 FSF Year will be the week of October 4th We will reassess what our next steps will be later this year. As always, I will keep you informed. I am aware and sensitive to the fact that the boys and girls will be beginning their school year much differently than they had expected.

I am also aware and sensitive to the fact that you, as parents, are going to be an even more integral part of their educational journey for the foreseeable future. For these reasons, I have chosen a model for the months of October, November, and December that requires minimal screen time and a flexible schedule!

The name of the program is, "IT'S IN THE BAG"! Each registered child will receive a nylon bag with grade-appropriate materials, "IN THE BAG"! A textbook, as well as individually labeled monthly bags of resources and activities, will be included, "In The Bag".

The purpose of the, "IT'S IN THE BAG" program is to create an "at home" learning offering which is meaningful, hands-on, and flexible so that it will work for the entire family on your family schedule!

+Create a set time, perhaps your scheduled class time, to have your, "IT'S IN THE BAG" lessons. I am here to listen, serve you, and guide you through any questions you may have. I will be available through email and phone. You have the most important qualifications that you need to teach .... your love for your children, your faith, and God!

+Prayer Services: During the next few months I will be recording 2 prayer services to be viewed by the children. One prayer service will be available in October, and the other prayer service will be available in December. Exact times and dates of the prayer services are forthcoming.

+Grade Level Get Togethers: During the months of October, November, and December, optional grade level get-togethers to check in with each other will be scheduled. Times and details will be coming at a later date.

On Sunday, September 27, I will have scheduled in-person parent meetings to share a quick overview, answer any questions that you may have, and distribute the family bags. More information about the parent meetings will be coming at a later date. Please mark the date on your calendar now.

I do wish that I knew what the next few months were going to look like. It seems to me that each day is different and filled with moving parts. I truly have only the best interest, respect, and care for you, our families, in designing a program that will keep the children engaged in their faith formation as well as providing the least amount of risk for illness.

Please contact me if you have any questions regarding, "IT'S IN THE BAG". My prayer is that we will be back in 2021 as an FSF family! (keep praying!!) I know that through our faith and love of God that we will be able to remain faithful and strong! May God bless each and every one of you, and may God continue to keep you safe and healthy!
